A meeting of co-chairs of the Tajik-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation took place in Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Tatarstan Republic, on May 15. The Tajik state-run anews gency Khovar Ireports that it was attended by the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Qohir Rasoulzoda, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, and the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
The main focus was on cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, energy, industry, agriculture, education, and culture.
The parties noted that the relations between the two countries as allies and strategic partners are developing in a stable and mutually beneficial atmosphere.
The parties reportedly also discussed the implementation of the plan to increase trade turnover for the years 2025–2030.

On the same day, Qokhir Rasoulzoda participated and spoke at the 17th International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: Kazan Forum”.
In his speech, Tajik PM emphasized that the Russian Federation remains a key strategic partner of Tajikistan, and bilateral cooperation is consistently expanding in all directions.
Rasoulzoda also spoke about the measures taken by the country’s government for the development of the socio-economic sphere. He noted that thanks to the ongoing reforms, the growth of the gross domestic product of the republic by the end of 2025 will remain at over 8 percent.

According to the Prime Minister, special attention is being paid to the development of the tourism sector, which is one of the priority areas of the country’s economy.
The inclusion of Tajikistan among the ten promising states for eco-tourism, as well as the introduction of a visa-free regime for citizens of more than 100 countries, contributed to a 20 percent increase in tourist flow in 2025, he noted.
Furthermore, it was noted that the Tajik side intends to further strengthen cooperation with Russia, including the Republic of Tatarstan, in the fields of engineering, petrochemicals, and digital technologies.
