New staff changes will not change country’s economic policy, says expert

DUSHANBE, October 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Staff changes introduced in the economic bloc ministries will not change the country’s economic policy, Tajik expert Masoud Sobirov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him there ought not to expect any serious changes in the country’s economy.  “The new minister of economic development and trade will continue policy that was conducted by the former minister Ghulomjon Bobozoda,” Sobirov said.

“To change the country’s economic policy and model as well as to develop our economy new specialists are needed, while those who now have managing positions in the government are members of the same team,” said the expert, “It is necessary not only to replace one minister with another one, it necessary to change the whole staff of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.”

To rehabilitate the country’s economy and promote its development, specialists with new thinking are needed, Sobirov said.  “If we find such specialists, one may expect any progress and good results from the economic bloc, because the country’s current economic policy has led Tajikistan nowhere.”

“I think the new minister of Economic Development and Trade Farrukh Hamraliyev will continue the policy that was conducted by his predecessor Ghulomjon Bobozoda,” the expert said.
