DUSHANBE, March 15, 2010, Asia-Plus  — the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will allocate 2.8 million U.S. dollars for construction of small hydropower plants in Tajikistan, Tojinisso Azizova, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Energy and Industries, said.

According to her, a memorandum of understanding on construction of small hydropower plants was inked by Tajik Minister of Energy and Industries Gul Sherali and Head of the KOICA Resident Office in Tajikistan Dong Fo Kim on March 14.

The Tajik minister of energy and industries noted that Tajikistan was ready to cooperate with South Korea in other directions of energy and industrial sectors as well, the spokeswoman said.

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was established on April 1, 1991, by the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
