DUSHANBE, March 15, 2010, Asia-Plus  — A special working group for studying impact of taxes on the country’s economy began its work last week, according to the Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.

The group members include representatives from the tax committee, ministries of economy and finance, state committee for investments and state-owned property management as well as business associations of the country.

“If representative from the business community have any constructive proposals, they may submit them to the group till May,” said the source at the Tax Committee, “Proposals must be well-prepared and thoroughly substantiated.  For instance, if entrepreneur proposes to lower the rate of any type of taxes, he must propose possible ways of compensating budget losses.”

According to him, the working group will also consider issues related to administration and accountability, including electronic accountability.  “All works are scheduled to be finished by July 1 this year and the most valid proposals will be submitted for consideration to the government.”

He added that appropriate changes and addenda could appear in the country’s tax code in early 2011.
