KHUJAND, February 11, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Asian people are notable for wisdom and they can solve their problems without mediators, Russian General Consul in Khujand, Azim Yarakhmetov, stated at a news conference in Khujand on February 10, commenting on a letter by Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajik Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov over the necessity of running independent examination of the Roghun project.

The news conference was dedicated to the Day of Diplomatic Service Employees.

Mr. Yarakhmetov stressed that it was his own opinion as the opinion of a human being but not a diplomat.

According to him, along with the statement over the Roghun HPP the Uzbek side also ought to propose solution to the problem, way out of this situation – how Tajikistan gets electrical power?

“Neighboring countries should have good neighborly relations, because both sides suffer from lack of understanding,” said the consul, “Goods are not coming to Tajikistan, while Uzbekistan is losing product markets.  It necessary to find mutually acceptable solution to the problem.”
