CCER reportedly ready for 210 parliamentary elections

DUSHANBE, December 12, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) is ready for the country’s parliamentary elections due in February 2010, the CCER head Mirzoali Boltuyev said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, preparations for the 2010 parliamentary elections began at the beginning of this year already.  “The CCER is ready to invite all non-governmental and international organizations active in the country to monitor the voting process,” the CCER head said, expressing hope that the elections will be free and fair.

“To make the population and candidate better informed of the election process and the country parliamentary elections code, the CCER representatives are currently organizing meeting with voters and candidates,” Boltuyev noted.
