Tajik wrestlers won medals at the 2026 Asian Wrestling Championships for age groups, taking place in Vietnam.
The Tajikistan wrestling team continues to compete at the 2026 the United World Wrestling (UWW) U17 and U23 Asian Championships, held in Da Nang, Vietnam. After the first days of the competition, the team has secured three bronze medals.
Mahdi Barotov climbed onto the podium in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 60 kg weight category. For the young wrestler, this is not his first major success on the international stage. He confirmed his high level by once again entering the ranks of the prizewinners of the continental championship.

Idris Bahromov won a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling in the 71 kg weight class. Amidst high competition and a large number of participants, Bahromov managed to break into the top ranks, enduring tense matches.

Another medal for the team was brought by Amir Obidov, who also became a bronze medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 71 kg weight category.

The championship runs from May 23 to June 9 and has gathered around 1,000 athletes, coaches, and representatives from delegations of 25 Asian countries. The tournament includes several disciplines – freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, women’s wrestling, and beach wrestling.
