DUSHANBE, December 11, 2009, Asia-Plus — A meeting of an expert group to discuss a draft protocol requiring changes and addenda made to the agreement on cooperation between the CIS border troops on border-crossing pointes on borders of the CIS states with other countries, which was singed on November 25, 1998 already, is being held in Minsk, Belarus today, press release issued by the CIS Executive Committee said.
The protocol, in particular, provides for holding of joint events by the CIS border services to improve and optimize border control technologies, efficient use of special technical means and patrol animals, balance level of training of control personnel, etc.
Under the document, the sides agreed to establish optimal organizing structures of formations, units and border control points and coordinate activities of services carrying out other types of control at the border crossings.
The protocol also provides for including additional provision concerning establishment of a database of documents being used for crossing border. The protocol also stipulates conducting joint training seminars and working meetings on exchange of experience in revealing document forgery, training border control specialists, etc.
