KHUJAND, December 1, 2009, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon, who is currently on a visit to the Sughd province, is meting with Sughd administrators today.
The meeting that will take place at the resort area in Qairoqqum is scheduled to review Sughd’s economic results in January-October this year.
We will recall that President Rahmon arrived in the Sughd province on November 29 to attend a ceremony of opening of a 500kV power grid connecting the south of Tajikistan with the country’s northern region.
The same day President Rahmon attended an official opening of a private spinning mill, Spitamen-Textiles, in the Spitamen district. The enterprise with capacity of processing 3,500 tons of cotton fiber per year has created 600 jobs for local population.
On November 30, President Rahmon inaugurated a new industrial enterprise, limited liability company Sakho, in the northern city of Qairoqqum. Built by local entrepreneur Nouriddin Qosimov, the enterprise consists of three workshops producing macaroni, plastic bottles and soft drinks. The enterprise has also launched confectionery-and-bakery workshop. The enterprise has the capacity of producing 80 tons of wheat flour, 5 tons of macaroni, 3 tons of confectionery, and 3,000 bottles of soft drinks per day. 500 people are currently working with the enterprise.
After that, Rahmon visited the Bobojonghafurov district to get acquainted with the farming units Qushatov and Ubaidulloyev in the district.
