Under the directive of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, humanitarian aid has been sent to the residents of Kulob affected by the natural disaster.
According to Khovar news agency, the city continues to deal with the aftermath of mudflows and floods, with special headquarters and commissions established to coordinate recovery efforts.
Material and humanitarian assistance has been provided to the affected families. Specifically, the following have been distributed:
— 230 tons of flour;
— 10 tons of sugar;
— 10 tons of pasta products;
— 6.5 tons of rice;
— 6500 liters of vegetable oil.
For temporary accommodation and provision of basic conditions, the following have been handed over:
— 350 tents;
— 3 field kitchens;
— beds and bedding items;
— 900 carpets;
— over 1000 sets of children’s clothing and shoes.
For the restoration of infrastructure, the following have also been delivered:
— water supply equipment;
— construction materials;
— timber;
— 60 tons of diesel fuel.
The efforts to mitigate the consequences of the natural disaster and provide aid to the population are ongoing, according to the Khovar report.
As a result of heavy rains, which caused flooding and mudslides on May 2-3, a number of residential houses and auxiliary infrastructure facilities in Kulob were damaged.
