A suspect in violence against a minor detained in Dushanbe

A previously convicted suspect lured a teenager into a basement and subjected him to violence.

Officers of the Dushanbe Police Department have detained a 40-year-old resident of the capital, F. Mahmanazarov, on suspicion of committing sexual violence against a minor.

“During the preliminary investigation, it was established that on April 24 of this year, Mahmanazarov lured a 12-year-old minor resident of the capital into the basement of a residential building on Nizomi-Ganjavi Street through deception, where he committed acts of a sexual nature against him using violence,” the statement said.

It is also noted that the detainee is suspected of other crimes and has previously been repeatedly convicted of various offenses.

“The suspect is in custody, and criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under three articles of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code: Article 139 (4) — forcible actions of a sexual characterr involving a minor under 14 years old; Article 244 – theft; and Article 247 – fraud. An investigation is underway.

The terms of imprisonment depend on the severity of the crime and qualifying factors. In this case, if the detainee’s guilt is established, he faces 15 to 20 years of imprisonment.
