The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has included Tajikistan among the top three leading reforming countries in the Europe and Central Asia region for improving the trade environment for the years 2022–2024, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan (MoEDT).

According to the ministry, the OECD noted the country’s measures to expand digital transparency, reduce paper barriers in trade procedures, improve connectivity to regional infrastructure, and align procedures with international standards.

The OECD report states that, according to the trade facilitation indicators for 2024, Tajikistan became the third-largest trade reformer in the Europe and Central Asia region for the period 2022–2024. However, the country lags behind Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the average indicator but ranks first in Central Asia for engaging the trading community.

The OECD separately noted progress in improving information on the Tajikistan Trade Portal. The Ministry of Economic Development emphasizes that the portal helps exporters study and comply with current regulatory legal acts.

The OECD also notes that access to trade information in Tajikistan has improved through the “Single Window” system, and transport documents have been digitized in accordance with UN/CEFACT standards.
