In Dushanbe, 30 new electric buses have started serving passengers. An official sources within the capital’s mayor’s office told Asia-Plus in an interview on May 25.

According to him, the new buses will operate in a test mode on two routes for some time:

– No. 17 — from the S.adriddin Ayni Park stop to the Avul neighborhood;

– No. 41 — from the Chorbogh post to the Western post.

According to institution “Dushanbenaqliyetkhadamotrason”, which is responsible for regulating and controlling the operation of public transport in the capital, residents were encouraged to use the new electric buses and submit their feedback and suggestions. It is noted that passenger opinions will be considered when making a final decision on the further use of these buses.

The institution also reported that fare payment in the new electric buses will only be carried out cashlessly.

It is noted that at the beginning of May, Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali participated in the presentation of 30 new electric buses produced by Akia Avesto Automotive Industry Company.

Previously, the company had already released 60 electric buses, which are currently operating on the capital’s roads.

The new electric buses are reportedly equipped with heating and air conditioning systems, six surveillance cameras, and two information screens. They are manufactured in accordance with European standards and have 32 seating places. The total capacity of each electric bus is up to 100 passengers.

The total battery capacity of the electric buses is 350 kWh, and the autonomous range reaches 300 kilometers.

The joint Tajik-Turkish enterprise Akia Avesto Automotive Industry has been operating since January 2018 and is engaged in assembling and manufacturing modern Akia brand buses.
