KULOB, November 2, 2009, Asia-Plus  — According to official figures, 31,872 residents of Khatlon’s Kulob zone have traveled to other countries in January-September this year seeking better employment opportunities.

The overwhelming majority of them – 29,348 people – have traveled to the Russia Federation, 416 people have traveled to Ukraine, 221 to Kazakhstan, 152 to Kyrgyzstan and 42 to other CIS states.

According to the Kulob airport, 20,735 labor migrants, including 836 women, have flown to Moscow from the Kulob airport over the first nine months of this year.

The Kulob migration directorate says 7,787 labor migrants, including 380 women, have returned home since the beginning of this year.
