A Council for the Development of the Digital Economy has been established under the President of Tajikistan. The corresponding decree was published on the legal portal of the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan, ADLIYA.
The document was adopted on May 23, 2026.
According to the Regulation on the Council, the new body will be a permanent advisory body to the President of Tajikistan. It will be headed by the head of state, and the first deputy prime minister will serve as the deputy chairman of the Council.
The Council also includes the deputy head of the Executive Office of the President, ministers of justice, economic development and trade, finance, the chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management, and the head of the Center for Information and Communication Technologies of the Executive Office of the President.
The director of the country’s Agency for Innovations and Digital Technologies will be the secretary of the Council.
The Council is established to implement state policy in the field of digitalization. It will also consider and propose measures for the development of the digital economy.
In addition, the new body should ensure interaction between state bodies, organizations, and the private sector.
Among the main tasks of the Council are the identification of priority areas of state policy in the field of digital economy and the development of proposals for its advancement in Tajikistan.
The Council will also work on establishing a constant dialogue between the state and the private sector on issues related to the promotion and development of the digital economy.
Its tasks include conducting research and analysis on digital economy issues, supporting innovative projects, developing digital infrastructure, enhancing digital literacy, and implementing modern technologies.
Earlier, a Medium-Term Program for the Development of the Digital Economy for 2026–2030 was approved in Tajikistan. Additionally, the years 2025–2030 have been declared the Years of Development of the Digital Economy and Innovations in the country.
