President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received US Assistant State Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake on 12 October in Tashkent.

Uzbekistan and the US had been developing relations in various spheres, which, among others, cover a wide range of issues of international policy, Islam Karimov stated. Among them are combating transnational threats and strengthening regional security and stability, President”s press service reported.

The two states cooperate in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan and the economic renewal of this country. Delivery of non-military and humanitarian cargo to Afghanistan is carried out through the territory of Uzbekistan.

Robert Blake said the US administration was interested in further development of mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan.

The sides considered issues of expansion of Uzbek-American relations and other topics of mutual interest.
