DUSHANBE, July 27, 2009, Asia-Plus — Production of agricultural output has reportedly increased in Tajikistan.
Speaking to reporters in Dushanbe, the First deputy Minister of Agriculture, Rahmonali Amirov, noted on July 27 that over the first six months of this year, gross agricultural product from all categories of farms has been more than 1.834 billion somoni, which is 14.7 percent more than in the same period of last year.
According to him, export of agricultural goods has increased over the report period as well. “In January-June this year, Tajikistan has exported 90,525 tons of agricultural goods, including some 30,000 tons of vegetables, more than 3,500 tons of fruits and more than 15,000 tons of soya products,” said the deputy minister, “Dried fruits accounted for more than 50 percent of the overall volume of agricultural goods exported over the report period. In January-June 2009, Tajikistan has exported 46,675 tons of dried fruits.”
