The inauguration of new facilities of the textile industry – the country”s first plant for production of medical and cosmetic cotton wool, as well as new Fashion House and two shopping centers “Ak pamyk” was held in Ashgabat on 29 June. The facilities were erected in the Neutral Turkmenistan Avenue next to the Ashgabat textile complex. They were built and equipped by Turkish company “Kotam Enterprises Ltd.”

The new plant has the capacity of 4200 tons of medical cotton wool and 12.4 million packages of cosmetic products per year. These products will be sent to foreign and domestic markets. The plant will process daily up to 4800 tons of raw materials – treated cotton waste which is available in sufficient quantities at the textile plants. Modern equipment of leading foreign companies was installed at the plant. The plant will employ more than 140 people.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov who arrived at the scene straight from the Ashgabat airport after completing his official visits to Republic of Croatia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The House of Fashion prepared a colorful show for guests and participants of the ceremony. Clothes made by Turkmen designers were presented in a special hall.
