DUSHANBE, June 30, 2009, Asia-Plus — Ten Tajik lawyers will monitor civil proceedings in Dushanbe, Khujand, Istaravshan and Khorog.
Monitoring will be conducted in the framework of project implemented by the Bureau on Human rights and Rule of Law under financial support of the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, the project coordinator Sergey Romanov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, those 10 lawyers are participants of the training seminar for monitoring group that was conducted in Dushanbe last week. The seminar participants were instructed in standards of international legal procedure with emphasis on civil cases, methods of collection of information, etc.
“The monitoring results will be reflected in surveys that will be presented on completion of the projects,” said Romanov, “The monitoring group members lawyers will also interview lawyers as well as representatives of public organizations and population in Dushanbe, Khujand, Istaravshan and Khorog.”
