DUSHANBE, May 29, 2009, Asia-Plus — A national seminar will be held in Dushanbe on June 3 to discuss impact of the global financial crisis on Tajik labor migrants.
Organized by the International Labor Organization in cooperation with Tajikistan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MoLSP), the seminar is part of the “Development of Local Communities through Creation of Jobs and Improvement of Migration Management System” Project.
The main objective of the event is to discuss the outcomes of surveys regarding the impact of the global financial crisis on labor migrants from Tajikistan and assist the government with determining approaches to solve problems under conditions of the global financial crisis.
The report on the present state of Tajik labor migrants will be presented on sidelines of the seminar. The report is based on the results of poll conducted by a MoLSP among labor migrants. Besides, the ILO 2009 Global Report on Forced Labor will be presented during the seminar as well.
