DUSHANBE, May 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Boulder, Colorado-based pianist David Korevaar performed before a packed house at the Tajik Conservatory on May 15, according to the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe.

Korevaar’s performance was part of the International Piano Festival, which featured pianists from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and the United States. At his solo concert, Korevaar played pieces by Aaron Copland and Franz Liszt, as well as compositions by Tajik composers Ziyodullo and Tolib Shahidi.  During a 10-day stay in Tajikistan, Korevaar conducted multiple master classes and visited music schools in Dushanbe and Khujand. This was his second trip to Tajikistan as part of the U.S. Embassy’s Cultural Envoy program, which spreads awareness of American culture abroad.
