DUSHANBE, May 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon who is also Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan is expected to take part in celebrations to mark the 64th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 that will be held at the Victory Park in Dushanbe on May 9.

According to the Ministry of Defense (MoD), the president and other high-ranking Tajik state officials will meet there with a group of veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.  President Emomli Rahmon will make a speech of congratulations and then the president, veterans and Tajik officials will lay wreaths at the Eternal Flame.

We will recall that by president’s order 1.2 million somoni have been allocated from presidential reserve fund to provide extraordinary grants to war veterans living in Tajikistan.
