DUSHANBE, May 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Thursday May 7, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev received the British Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Trevor Moore, at his request, Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the upper house speaker for public affairs, said.

Ubaidulloyev congratulated Moore on his appointment as HM Ambassador to Tajikistan and briefed him on activity of Tajik parliament.

Tajik speaker noted that under conditions of the ongoing global financial and economic crisis interaction between the parliaments of the two countries on unification of legal acts and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation could yield positive results.

For his part, British diplomat noted that he would do all that was in his power to promote expansion of cooperation between the two countries in all spheres, including establishment of contacts between the parliaments of the United kingdom and Tajikistan, the aide said.
