DUSHANBE, January 20, 2009, Asia-Plus — Tajik labor migrants working in Russia’s Sverdlovsk region and its administrative center Yekaterinburg would like to invest in construction of the hydroelectric power station (HPS) Roghun, Farhod Mirzoyev, head of the Tajik Diaspora in Yekaterinburg, Sommon, told Asia-Plus by phone on Tuesday.
According to him, migrant workers have sent a letter on this subject to President Emomali Rahmon. “We have applied to the president, asking to order the government to develop a special project for attraction of investments from Tajik nationals working abroad,” Mirzoyev said.
If our proposal is approved, labor migrants could participate in the project through investing their financial means in construction of power facilities in Tajikistan,” said the Somon head, “We call on all Tajik labor migrants to support our initiative and invest in construction of such facilities as far as possible.”
