DUSHANBE, April 5, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s Main Geology Directorate has applied to the Government over declassification of some parametric information on the country’s mineral resources.

“An initiative for declassification of such information has come from President Emomali Rahmon,” the Main Geology Directorate head Azim Ibrohim told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“Therefore, we have recently discussed a mechanism of declassification of certain information concerning the country’s mineral resources with senior representatives from the State Agency for the Protection of State Secrets,” Tajik chief geologist said, noting that they are currently preparing report for the government explaining exactly what information on mineral resources is now classified as secret data.

“The government will familiarize itself with our report and will give us instructions on further actions,” said Ibrohim, “Not all information on the country’s mineral resources is classified as secret data.  Anyway, we will declassify only the parametric information – content, volumes, depth and so on.  This will help investors develop business-plans.  As far graphic materials and full accounts are concerned, they will probably be given to winners of tenders after they get exploration licenses.”
