DUSHANBE, January 14, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Eight companies were granted licenses last year for exploration and development of natural resources in Tajikistan, the head of the Main Geology Directorate Azim Ibrohim remarked at a press conference in Dushanbe on January 13.

He noted that participating in implementation of a number of projects on geological exploration surveys, specialists from the Main Geology Directorate last year estimated possible reserves of one coal deposit, three deposits of raw materials for production of cement, nine clay deposits, and 14 deposits of sand and gravel deposits.  The survey results were submitted for consideration to the government.

According to him, due to preparation of these deposits for industrial development eighteen small enterprises for producing and processing these materials have been set up that have allowed creating more than 200 new jobs.

“Development of project for construction of a new industrial enterprise for development of the gold deposit Pokroud is nearing completion,” said Ibrohim, “The project development is financed by Chrysler Researches and local joint-stock company Pokroud; 150 people will be recruited to build the enterprise.”
