DUSHANBE, January 9, 2009, Asia-Plus — Speaking at an enlarged meeting of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT), the Economic Development and Trade Minister Ghulomjon Bobozoda noted today that according to the preliminary data, inflation for 2008 stood at 11.9 percent.
According to him, there was no a sharp spike in consume prices last year. The minister noted that decrease in the world prices of oil products, grain and flour had allowed curbing inflation at the mentioned level. In 2007, inflation stood at 19.7 percent.
We will recall that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) expected inflation in Tajikistan fro 2008 to stand at 16 percent.
