DUSHANBE, January 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The City School Olympiad will open at School # 1 in Dushanbe tomorrow.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Dushanbe education department head Shamsullo Islomov said that during three days, winners of the school and district rounds would compete in 17 school subjects and the winners would take part in the Republican School Olympiad.  

113 general schools with totaling 165,434 pupils now function in Dushanbe and 112 of them are subordinate to the Dushanbe education department, Islomov said.  

In the meantime, Regional School Olympiads were launched in the country today.  The Republican School Olympiad is held in Tajikistan every year in March or April.

According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), there are 3,810 general educational facilities in the country.
