1,145 students to enter Tajik universities under presidential quota

DUSHANBE, June 24, 2011, Asia-Plus — 1,145 students will enter Tajik universities in new 2011-2012 academic year under presidential quota.

Hokimkhon Valiyev, head of the department for higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Education (MoE) says 591 girls and 554 young men will enter Tajik higher educational institutions this academic year under presidential quota.

According to him, 191-student quota is allocated for studying at Khujand State University, 181 students may enter Qurghon Teppa State University under presidential quota, 135-student quota is allocated fro studying at Dushanbe Teachers’ Training University, 104-student quota is allocated for studying at Dushanbe State Medical University and 45 seats are provided at Tajik National University.  The remaining 489 seats are distributed among the fifteen other higher educational institutions of the country.

The so-called ‘presidential quota’ for entering higher educational institutions in Tajikistan without exams is usually granted to young people, mostly girls, from remote rural areas.
