DUSHANBE, August 6, 2011, Asia-Plus — Nematullo Asoyev, head of the social protection department in Shahritous district Khatlon province, faces corruption charges.
According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Nematullo Asoyev is accused of embezzling 7,600 somoni of state funds. “In July 2010, Asoyev took 2,200 somoni from the account section of the Shahritous social protection department and used them for his own needs,” said the source. “Later, he embezzled 5,400 somoni more.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the corrupt official and an investigation is going on, the source added.
