KHUJAND, November 22, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Commander of platoon wit one of military units deployed in Sughd’s Jabborrasulov district, Lieutenant Abdukholiq Hikmatov, has been punished for beating private soldier Hokimjon Koliqberdiyev.

A source at the Khujand military court that considered Hikmatov’s case told Asia-plus today that the preliminary investigation has established that Lieutenant Abdukholiq Hikmatov last October.

Taking into account that bodily injure inflicted on the soldier was insignificant and the officer has served only two months, the Khujand military court on December 17 ruled that Lieutenant Abdukholiq Hikmatov be barred from further promotion during 1.5 years.  Besides, under ruling handed down by the Khujand military court Hikmatov will be paying 10 percent of his wage to Hokimjon Kholiqberdiyev during one year and six months.  The sentence followed Hikmatov’s conviction on charges of abuse of office, the source said.
