KHUJAND, November 4, 2011, Asia-Plus — A new cotton-processing plant, limited liability company “Ponghoz,” has been introduced into operation in Sughd’s Asht district.

“Ponghoz” is the second cotton-processing plant in Asht; the enterprise has been built due to private investments.

The plant processes cotton, produces cotton fiber and cotton (cooking) oil as well as processes secondary materials into lint and cake.

Fourteen people now work at the enterprises and it has processed more than 80 tons of raw cotton to this day.

24 cotton-processing plants now function in the northern province of Sughd and they have processed more than 984 tons of cotton this year so far.
