DUSHANBE, November 15, 2011, Asia-Plus — Eleven Tajik nationals will be deported from Russia today.

According to the representative office of Tajikistan’s Migration Service in Russia, as of 3:00 pm of November 14, 205 Tajik nationals were held at the Detention Center for Foreign Citizens in Moscow.  “By court’s decision they will be deported from Russia,” the source said.  “Of them, 126 were taken to the detention center from November 11 to November 13.”

In accordance with Russia’s legislation, a citizen has the right to appeal against the decision of the court of first instance within ten days and only after that the deportation process is conducted.

“To-date, seven Tajik nationals have already appealed against the court’s decision,” said the source said.  “For the purpose of providing legal and social assistance to them, the Migration Service’s office in Moscow has hired lawyers.”

According to him, eleven Tajik nationals will be deported from Russia today.  The source added that the Russian authorities have not conducted any procedures on deportation of Tajik nationals in recent days.

Meanwhile, Federal Migration Service head Konstantin Romodanovsky said on November 11 that a total of 297 citizens of Tajikistan will soon be deported from Russia because of violation of Russian laws.

These developments have arisen after a Tajik court last week sentenced two pilots of a Russian aviation company to eight-and-a-half years in prison each for border violations and smuggling.

They were detained after landing in Qurghon Teppa in March with two aircraft on Russia-bound flight from Afghanistan.
