More than 15,500 crimes reported in Tajikistan in Jan-Nov 2011

DUSHANBE, December 16, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Over the first eleven months of this year, more than 15,500 crimes have been reported in Tajikistan, which is 25 percent more than in the same period last year, the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan said.

4,700 serious crimes have been registered in the country over the report period, which is 1.7 times more than in January-November 2010.

Compared to January-November 2010 there was 40 percent increase in robberies, 32 percent increase in fraud, 6.6 percent increase in hooliganism, 3.3 percent increase in thefts and 2.2 percent increase in intended murders and attempted murders.

The number of bribery-related crimes during the report period has reportedly increased 1.9 times.

Compared to January-November 2010 there was a 16.3 percent increase in the number of reported crimes involving the manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, and use of drugs.

More than 3,400 economic crimes have been reported over the same eleven-month period (2.3 times more compared to January-November 2010).
