DUSHANBE, December 4, 2008, Asia-Plus — Deputy Foreign Minister Abdullo Yuldoshev is representing Tajikistan at the OSCE Ministerial Council that has opened in Helsinki today, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
Some 50 foreign ministers have gathered in Helsinki, underscoring the importance of talks on European security and the region”s protracted conflicts.
The MFA information department head Davlat Nazriyev noted during its stay in Helsinki, Yuldoshev is expected to hold a number of talks with representatives of some OSCE participating countries.
In the meantime, according to press release issued by the OSCE, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb noted at a press conference in Helsinki on December 3 that “the importance of the meeting was also evidenced by the 67 delegations, more than 1,200 delegates and 300 accredited journalists who are scheduled to attend.”
According to him, two big themes – the Caucasus, in particular Georgia, and European security – top the agenda of this two-day meeting.
