Turboatom Ltd has shipped the hydraulic turbine equipment for Rogun hydropower plant, which is under construction in Tajikistan, press service of the Ukrainian company reported.

According to the report, the company is about to ship additional equipment for two 640Mwt inward-flow (central discharge) turbines (hydro unit #5 and #6), which were delivered back in 90ies. The contract for shipment of additional equipment was signed in March 2010.

According to the project, the Rogun HPP will have the world’s highest dam with project capacity of 3600 megawatt. The construction will be divided into several stages. The first line’s capacity is expected to make 400 megawatt with an average annual production of 5bln kilowatt/hours. The plant will have a total of 6 hydro units.
