The Khatlon Military court sentenced two border guards to prison for drug trafficking.

Deputy head of Koqul frontier control point of the #2133 military unit Najibullo Nosirov and warrant officer of the same unit Dilovar Damatov were found guilty of drug trafficking, the judge Ismoil Mirmahsumov, who presided over the trial, told the AP.

As it has been proved during the trail, both Nosirov and Damatov tried to sell around 6.5kg of drugs. However, Damatov was arrested on January 30 this year in Hisorak village of Farhor region of Khatlon area when he tried to sell 5kg 344gr of hashish and 1kg 126gr of opium to a police officer who acted as a potential buyer. Nosirov was arrested later on the basis of Damatov’s statement who said that Nosirov ordered him to go to the deal.

In the course of the trial both were found guilty.

The court sentenced both to 14 years in high security prison with confiscation of property. The court also deprived both of their military ranks, Mirmahsumov has said.
