On April 20 Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon presided over an enlarged session of the Government which was held in the Kohi Vakhdat concert in central Dushanbe.

The session was attended by a record number of participants – 1.300 people, President’s press service reported.

Apart from Government officials, representatives of the President’s Office, heads of ministries, state committees and departments under the President and the Government, republican organizations and institutions, Governors of provinces, heads of cities and regions, the session was attended by education officials, heads of Women’s and Family Committee, Youth, Sport and Tourism Committee and heads of a series of private enterprises and companies.

In general, President Rahmon was satisfied with the results of socio-economic development of the country in the first quarter this year and ordered to eliminate existing gaps.

It has been noted that the country’s GDP in the first quarter this year made 5.6mln Somoni with a 7.2% growth. Inflation in the reporting period made 1.2%. Budget revenues made 2bln Somoni or 4% more as compared to the planned volume. This is also 321mln Somoni more as compared to the same period last year.

Responsible officials were ordered to implement the state budget, ensure timely payment of wages and pensions, taking into account related increase planned for this year, ensure construction of new enterprises, provide new workplaces and speed up this year’s spring sowing campaign and ensure repeated cropland sowing campaign.

President ordered to think about new food security measures, provide fuel and fodder for livestock.

It has been stressed that each family and economic unit should be provided with foodstuffs for the next two-years. Industrial enterprises were ordered to switch to coal or another alternative fuel till the end of this year.

The session also announced a universal cleaning campaign on April 28-29.
