The Parliament approved amendments to the country’s Tax Code regarding removal of VAT for air navigation services.
Deputy Safarali Gulov says value added tax for air navigation services was introduced in late 2012 in accordance with amendments to the country’s tax legislation.
“According to the amendments, Tajikistan introduced VAT for air navigation services on January 1, 2011. However, this move contradicts the Convention on International Civil Aviation which was ratified by Tajikistan,” he said.
Tajik Deputy Minister of Finance Ruhullo Hakimov said that CIS countries, Baltic states, EU and Middle East countries do not charge VAT for these services when Tajik planes cross their airspace.
“If we do not remove VAT for this type of services, other countries, airspace of which is crossed by Tajik planes, can also introduce VAT for these services for our planes,” Hakimov has said.
The amendments, which were designed by the Government, were approved without any debates.
