One of residents of Tajikistan’s capital purchased at auction a 55.000 Somoni (more than $11.300) worth number plate for his vehicle. The auction was conducted by the Tajik Traffic Police Unit last weekend. The buyer paid this amount for number plate 01-01 AP (01).

In his interview to AP head of the Tajik Traffic Police Unit, Major General Mahmadsaid Saidov said that the funds gained from the auction will be transferred to the state budget. At the same time, he refused to name the buyer of this “cool number plate”.

He said similar auctions are conducted in Tajikistan since 2010. In one of previous auctions another number plate was sold at 40.000 Somoni.

Nevertheless, AP reporters have found the buyer of this “cool” number plate. In his interview to AP, Siyevush Gayurov, a 30-year-old resident of Dushanbe, purchased this number plate for his Lexus. He also said that he is a businessman. He is married and has two children. He lives in a tall house.

When asked if it would be better to spend the money on charity he said he spends enough money on charitable campaigns for orphanages.
