Criminal trial against 17 members of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (Turkestan) – IMU, ended today in Sughd.

The trial against 17 people, of which 16 are residents of Jarbulak village of Oshoba Jamoat of Asht region and a 22-year-old resident of Bobojongafurov region, started on April 23, 2012 in the Khujand #2 investigation center.

As reported by the judge Shodikhon Nazarov, who presided over the trial, the court found all the defendants guilty under article 187 part 2 (participation in criminal group), article 307 note 3 part 2 (Organization of activity of extremist group, participation in political parties, public or religious association or other type of organization which were forbidden in the country for their extremist activity), article 32 part 1-306 (preparing for crime and attempt to commit a crime – forced capture of power) and sentenced them to different years in prison from 9 to 23 years in high security prison with confiscation of property.

The defendants pleaded guilty.
