More than 2000 soldiers and officers from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan and Russia will take part in the Peace Mission 2012 anti-terrorism war games of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The maneuvers will take place on June 7-14 on Choruhdairon training field in Sughd military garrison.
As Tajik Ministry of Defense reports, Uzbek military units will not attend the maneuvers. It remains unclear why Uzbekistan refused to take part in the Peace Mission 2012.
Major General Emomali Sobirov, commander-in-chief of the Tajik land forces, will take command of the war games in which air forces, artillery and armoured units will take part. Top officials from SCO member states will observe the war games.
