DUSHANBE, July 17, 2012, Asia-Plus — In Tajikistan, inflation for January-June this year stood at 2.5 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Prices for products of food industry have reportedly fallen 0.5 percent over the report period and non-foodstuffs have risen in cost by 3.9 percent over the same six-month period.  Prices and rates for services rendered to the population have risen 12.6 percent in January-June this year.

We will recall that in a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Ms. Malohat Kholiqzoda, the deputy chairperson of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), noted on January 19 that the government expects the year-end inflation to stand at 10.5 percent in 2012.
