Over $40.4 mln worth of humanitarian aid delivered to Tajikistan in H1 2012

DUSHANBE, July 18, 2012, Asia-Plus  — 31 countries of the world have provided more than US$40.4 million worth of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan in January-June of 2012, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

More than 8,400 tons of wheat flour for more than 3.9 million U.S. dollars, 514.9 tons of vegetable oil for some 800,000 U.S. dollars, US$17.7 million worth of medicines and medical equipment, footwear and clothing for U.S. 705,000 as well as food products and electrical appliances have been delivered to the country over the report period.

Among the donor countries the greatest share in value came from the United States – 45.3 percent, Russia – 12.9 percent, and Egypt – 5.2 percent.
