Printed output may rise in prices in Tajikistan

Date:

DUSHANBE, July 23, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan says that some publishing houses must pay a 25-percetn income tax.  Moreover, they will have to repay their tax debts for 2011 as well.

In May 2009, income taxes for productive enterprises were lowered from 25 to 15 percent.  Like other productive enterprise, publishing houses also began to pay their income taxes at the 15-percent rate.

Meanwhile, the Tax Committee head Nusratullo Davlatov says that some publishing houses cannot be rated as productive enterprises.

“Some of publishing houses, like Sharqi Ozod, manufacture their own output and provide printing services to other legal and physical entities,” said Tajik chief tax officer.  “In the meantime, there are publishers that do not manufacture their own out put and just provide printing services to other legal and physical services.”

“In this connection, we have prepared the list of taxpayers and sent it to all tax inspectorates in the provinces in order to remove the existing shortcomings,” Davlatov said, noting that those who do not agree with that decision may apply to the Tax Committee.
