Tajik leader invites six women into the government

”s president has appointed six women to senior government posts.  

By president’s edicts twelve persons were appointed to various senior government posts on Tuesday.  Of them, six are women, which presidential press service says reflects the growing role of women in public administration.

Emomali Rahmonov appointed Ms. Gulmira Hamroqulova deputy finance minister, Ms. Mavjuda Keldiyorova as deputy energy minister, and Ms. Aikhon Sharipova as deputy minister of land reclamation and water resources.  He also offered the post of presidential adviser for science and technology to Ms. Latofat Nasriddinova and made Ms. Bunafsha Odinayeva second in charge of

’s drug control agency (DCA).  Ms. Odinayeva had previously been chairperson of department at the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting. 

By government’s resolution Ms. Lutfi Vazirova was appointed deputy director of the government’s department for protection of state secrets.    

            By government’s resolutions Abdulhakim Rozziqzoda was appointed rector of the country’s institute of physical training, Kamol Nuraliyev as first deputy minister of land reclamation and water resources, and Davlat Kholmurodov as deputy director of the country’s chief archives.

Besides, Abdurrahmon Ayubov was appointed

’s trade representative to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mavlonazar Pallayev as director of the “Jamast” state unitary enterprise, and Rajab Qodirov as director of the joint-stock company “Tajikkhimprom”. 

Addressing the new appointees, Rahmonov said that training young personnel and engaging women in state and public decision-making were among the priorities of the government”s personnel policy.”

According to some experts, the current share of women in high-ranking positions in

is 15%.
