DUSHANBE, November 11, 2008, Asia-Plus — Tajik law-enforcement authorities have seized 5,212.895 kilograms of narcotics in the first 10 months of 2008, according to the Drug Control Agency (DCA).

A totaled included 1,499.326 kilograms of heroin, 1,698.467 kilograms of raw opium and 2,014.093 kilograms of cannabis. About half of it was heroin.

During the same period, 227 Tajik nationals, including 17 women, have been detained outside the country on drug charges.  192 Tajik nationals have been detained in Russia, 10 in Kazakhstan, 10 in Uzbekistan and 6 in Kyrgyzstan.
