The USA set five conditions for Iran to resume negotiations

Including the transfer of 400 kg of uranium

The United States has sent Iran a list of five conditions for resuming peace talks, responding to a similar initiative from Tehran, Iranian Fars News Agency (FNA) reports citing a publication from May 17.

According to the agency, Washington’s demands include:

— the United States’ refusal to provide any compensation for damage to Iran;

— the transfer of about 400 kg of enriched uranium to Washington;

— the reduction of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure to one operational complex;

— the unfreezing of no more than 25% of Iranian assets;

— the discussion of cessation of hostilities in all directions, including Lebanon, only within the negotiation process.

FNA cites the opinion of unnamed experts who believe that the US is trying to achieve goals not reached by military means.

Previously, it is noted, Iran also put forward five conditions for the US to resume dialogue.

Here is what was included in the list:
– an end to the war on all fronts, especially in Lebanon,

– lifting of US sanctions against Iran,

– release of frozen Iranian funds,

– compensation for war-induced damage,

– recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

The US authorities completely rejected Iran’s 14-point conflict resolution plan. Donald Trump called Iran’s proposals unacceptable.

According to sources, a temporary truce remains between the parties, but full-fledged negotiations for a second round have not yet begun.
