DUSHANBE, October 12, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Tajik media organizations have urged the law enforcement authorities to thoroughly investigate the recent traffic accident, in which reporter of BBC’s Persian Service in Tajikistan Iskandar Firouz was badly injured.

The statement released by Tajik Journalists’ Union (TJU), the National Association of Independent Media of Tajikistan (Nansmit), the Media Council of Tajikistan and the Media Alliance of Tajikistan yesterday, in particular, notes that driver of Land Cruiser that hit Iskandar Firouz’s Toyota Camry in the evening of October 9 escaped the scene the crash scene and his whereabouts are still unknown.

“According to the accident witnesses, the traffic police officers found the Land Cruiser driver guilty of the crash but the next day they said that the Toyota Camry driver was guilty of the accident.” The media organizations note they are concerned that the accident test results may be falsified.

They call on the interior minister to take investigation into the accident under his own control.

Meanwhile, physicians from the National Medical Center, where Iskandar Firouz is undergoing medical treatment, say his health condition remains serious.  He is reportedly still in comatose condition.

We will recall that Iskandar Firouz sustained serious injures on October 9 as Land Cruiser hit his Toyota Camry.

The accident took place in the evening, at around 8:10 pm, not far from Dushanbe’s Zoo.  Land Cruiser, driven by Ayomiddin Rahmiddinzoda, 22, hit Toyota Camry that was driven by Javonsher Firouz, son of Iskandar Firouz.  As a result of the collision, Iskandar Firouz and his son, Javonsher Firouz, sustained various injuries and were taken to the National Medical Center.  Nothing now threatens Javonsher’s life while Firouz Iskandar is still in serious health condition.
