KHOROG, January 27, Asia-Plus – 253 emergencies, including five tremors, 32 fires, 175 avalanches and mudslides, as well as 36 traffic accidents, were reported in Gorno Badakhshan last year, Asia-plus has learned from Sulton Kholiqnazarov, chief of the GBAO emergency management agency’s staff.    

According to him, these emergencies killed 27 people and left 48 people with injures in the region.

“Damage caused by those emergencies to the region’s economy has amounted to some 5 million Somonis,” said Sulton Kholiqnazarov, “2,453 head of cattle were killed by those emergencies and 933 residential buildings and some 200 social facilities were damaged or completely destroyed by disasters.”
